Scientists at MIT are prepared to confirm what many already suspected: human morality is not incorruptible. New experiments there have targeted the area of our brain-- the right temporo-parietal junction-- that becomes active once we begin to morally reflect. By means of Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation, that area may now be so-stimulated to temporarily impair the brain's ability to weigh morally-freighted scenarios.
In one trial, subjects were asked to judge a man who allows his girlfriend to cross a bridge he knows to be unsafe; the girlfriend survives, but is the man still morally delinquent? For more information, and their answers, READ IT.
